Hunter Richardson and Shannon Baker

Donald and Andrea Baker of Cleveland announce the engagement of their daughter Shannon Ashley Baker to Hunter J. Richardson, son of Teresa and Gary Jones of Oliver Branch, Miss., Shirley Gaia of Germanton, Tenn. and Fred Richardson of Germanton.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Anna Baker of Cleveland, the late George Baker and the late Mary and Varney Graves.

She is a 1997 graduate of West Hall High School in Oakwood. She graduated in 2001 from North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She received a master’s degree at Georgia State University in Atlanta in public administration and is pursuing her doctorate in student affairs administration and higher education at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. She is employed as an assistant director in campus recreation with the University of Mississippi in Oxford. She is a member of Grace Bible Church and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life and Angel Ranch Children’s Shelter.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Verna Gurley of Metropolis, Ill., the late Walter Gurley, Margaret Richardson of Southaven, Miss., and the late James Richardson.

He is a 1994 graduate of Southern Baptist Education Center in Southaven, Miss. He graduated in 1998 from the University of Mississippi in Oxford with a bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance. He is employed as an insurance agent with Shelter Insurance Co. in Oxford. He is a member of Grace Bible Church and a volunteer with St. Jude Children’s Hospital and The United Way.

The couple plans to wed Nov. 8, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church of Cleveland.
