Gene and Joy Cape of Gainesville celebrated their 50th anniversary on Aug. 8, 2009. A family dinner held in their honor at Luna's in Gainesville was given by their family Ted, Karen and Daniela Cape; Jill, Bobby, Bailey and Kate Pless; Cliff, Sherry, Caroline and Victoria Cape; and Bart, Sarah, Cailee and Madalyn Cape.

The couple have four children and seven grandchildren.
