Lee Renna is ready to ride.
Renna, a respiratory therapist at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center and avid motorcycle rider, is one of the organizers of a Saturday benefit ride for the hospital foundation.
The hospital's foundation provides funding for equipment and other health care costs.
"Every hospital is fighting for every penny we can get," Renna said. "We wanted to do something with a broad stroke."
The ride is open to riders and their passengers and features ground events, including a bike show, stunt bike riding and door prize drawings at the hospital.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the police escorted ride begins at 10 a.m.
The route starts at the hospital, winds through Jefferson, Maysville, Homer, Commerce and back to the hospital.
"We like to ride," Renna said. "That's the key thing. Most of us are jumping on it to go somewhere anyway."
Even those who don't ride can have fun as spectator judges for the bike show, Renna said.
"We're just gonna have a good time," he said. "And it's for a good cause."
Organizers are hoping for a turnout of much more than 50, Renna said.
"Motorcycle people are very charitable. It's that motorcycle mindset that we have, we want to help people."
