An evening of rock 'n' roll benefitting a local organization that helps kids will not be a stuffy affair, organizers say.

The third annual Diamonds and Denim fundraiser for Family T.I.E.S. - Gainesville will let guests mingle outside on the lawn at the Gainesville Civic Center or dance in the ballroom inside - and jeans are encouraged.

Dee Dee Mize, director of Family T.I.E.S., said the band, Crib Lizard, is an annual favorite. There will also be a live and silent auction featuring items such as guitars autographed by Keith Urban and Eric Clapton, a golf flag from the PGA Masters tournament framed and signed by Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer and a University of Georgia football signed by Larry Munson.

Family T.I.E.S. is a nonprofit organization that helps prevent child abuse and neglect by promoting intervention and education to parents and children.

"We are all about educating the family on parenting skills, for the parents helping teens with their angst and why parents have to parent and not be their friend," Mize said. "We're also helping children as far as if they're having any issues at home, with their parents, if there's anger management going on, especially now because stress is such a high component that's going on now."

Tickets to Diamonds and Denim are $50 in advance and $55 on the day of the event. Tickets include two drink tickets, and the event will be catered by Luna's restaurant.

"Wear your bling-bling and your jeans and you're good to go," Mize said.
