Who knew life after Hazzard County would involve Broadway musicals?

Tom Wopat, who played Luke Duke in the 1980s TV hit "The Dukes of Hazzard," will perform songs from his new CD, "Consider It Swung," at 7 Thursday at the Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa. The evening will feature lots of music from the great American songbook, performed with Wopat's jazz ensemble.

While he cut his teeth trying to avoid a meddling sheriff in his early acting years, his most recent work has been singing Broadway hits. His latest roles have been in musical revivals in Chicago and Seattle.

Wopat, who has been singing and dancing since he was 12, studied music at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

After he became a star on "Hazzard," Wopat returned to the stage, starring in "Carousel" at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., "Olympus On My Mind" at the Lambs Theatre in New York and the 1990 Tony Award-winning musical "City of Angels" at Broadway's Virginia Theater.
