Three local events in downtown Gainesville, Sweet Acre Farms and at Left Nut Brewing Co. are lining up to help you survive your kids’ Halloween sugar rush next week.

Adult Halloween

Fire breathers, tarot readings, fancy hot dogs — Gainesville’s Adult Halloween is going the extra mile this year for its Friday, Oct. 26, event on the square.

This rain-or-shine event beginning at 8 p.m. Friday is put on by Grownup Gainesville and organized by Downtown Drafts. The growler bar will have Atlanta’s Monday Night Brewing in the house for a tap takeover, including a beer specially made for the event called Last Will and Testament, a bourbon barrel-aged old ale, according to Downtown Drafts co-owner Aimee Hoecker.

Monday Night will offer giveaways through the evening and DJ Chris Fuller is performing on the square.

Pico’s Hot Dogs, a Gainesville-based hot dog cart, will be on the square selling food in addition to the restaurants with outdoor seating. But two new shows are bringing the Halloween spirit this year: a fire dancer and tarot reader.

Tarot readings will cost $5 each and the fire performance will last through the evening.

Wine-O-Ween

Sweet Acre Farms in Alto is back with its Wine-O-Ween night on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Costume contests, outdoor games, food trucks, wine flights and more will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the winery at 7584 Bill Wilson Road.

Gainesville band The Woodys are set to perform during the event. Food truck MG’s Burgerque will be at the winery selling a variety of fare from Homer.

And at sundown, Sweet Acre Farms will begin a Halloween movie night with the classic, “Beetlejuice.”

For the football fans out there, you’ll be able to catch the Georgia-Florida game upstairs at the winery.

LNB Halloween Bash

If the weather goes south this weekend, Left Nut Brewing Co. is back with a few Halloween beers at the 2100 Atlanta Highway brewery.

Beginning at noon on Saturday, the brewery will host a series of events tweaked for Halloween, beginning with its popular Sweat and Sip exercise class. The taproom opens at 1 p.m.

Broadcast of the Georgia game starts at 3:30 p.m. — which will be scary enough as it is — Pico’s Hot Dogs begins serving at 4 p.m. and Atlanta band WhiskeyDawgs begins playing at 6:30 p.m.

A costume contest launches at 9:30 p.m. to close out the evening.

On tap at Left Nut will be a couple of seasonal Halloween brews: Rosemary’s Baby and No Pumpkins Were Harmed. Rosemary’s Baby is a rosemary-infused IPA and the latter is the brewery’s take on fall’s traditional pumpkin beer.
