Sterling on the Lake is turning 5 this year and in celebration of the anniversary, the community in Flowery Branch has planned a four-part concert series.

The Songs 4 Summer concert series begins Saturday and neighborhood residents along with other local residents are welcome to the family-friendly concerts.

“I’m probably expecting at least 400 or 500 this weekend,” said Jennifer Landers, marketing director for Sterling on the Lake. “Our Village Green has just had a new face-lift, a new renovation to it with meandering sidewalks around the whole green. We have a three-tiered natural rock amphitheater that we’ve just put in that overlooks our pavilion, which is where the concerts will be.”

The concert series will be each Saturday this month, and this weekend will feature A1A, a Jimmy Buffett tribute band. On June 13 will be The Entertainers; the Swingin’ Richards will perform classic rock on June 20; and The Voltage Brothers will close the series on June 27 with Top 40 to Motown.

All concerts are free.

Jeff Pike, lead singer for A1A, said this weekend will be the first time folks in Flowery Branch will get to see the Jimmy Buffett “official tribute show.”

“All that I know is that we’re just going to do a three-hour show on the lawn up there,” Pike said of the five-piece band. “We’ll be playing all the Buffett favorites that everybody wants to hear — ‘Margaritaville,’ ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’ ... but we also play some of the lesser-known songs, too.”

Each night of the concert series also will include food vendors.

“We have a variety of different restaurants that are coming out every week ... It’s a different theme tied to each week,” Landers said. “So with Jimmy Buffet will be Moe’s, the next week is ‘golden oldies’ and we are bringing barbecue ... And then the next week we are partnered with Hamilton Mill and Canongate (golf course); they are one of our grand prizes that week — they are giving away golf passes and they are going to have different varieties of food on a stick, and then the last week is Beef O’Brady’s.”

Sterling on the Lake will also will be having a texting campaign for a chance for concertgoers to win prizes each week.

“Each week when they text they will be entered into the sweepstakes,” Landers said. “They have to be present to win and we’re giving away things from (Gwinnett) Braves tickets and throwing the first pitch, passes to Canongate Golf Course, a weekend retreat to Reynolds Plantation, we have passes to Achasta Golf Course and then we also have the Atlanta City Pass.”
