For the fifth time in 10 years, North Georgia College & State University celebrates its national exhibition, the Southern Printmaking Biennale V. This juried art exhibition features works by professional printmakers working in different media, from lithography to burnt residue embossing. Exhibitors come from as far as Oregon, Michigan and Nebraska.

This biennale’s winner is Ericka Walker, who will have a one-person exhibition in the summer/fall of 2011 with a series of political and environmental prints. Honorable mentions were awarded to Mitch Mitchell and Angela Malchionno.

A reception and award ceremony will be from 5-6 p.m. today. Juror Matt Rebholz, assistant professor at Southwestern State University in Georgetown, Texas, and winner of the 2008 biennale, will visit Dahlonega today to discuss the exhibition after the reception. The exhibition will continue until Oct. 1. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday  and 3-11 p.m. Sunday.
