The Gainesville Symphony Orchestra is set to create movie magic this weekend.

With help from the Gainesville Theater Alliance, concertgoers will be treated to an evening of movies come to life.

"It's the first time we've ever played this type of music, and the first time we've ever collaborated with the Gainesville Theater Alliance," Candace Monnerie, executive director of the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra, said.

The concert will feature music from the movies from different genres of stage and screen.

"We're going to be using live actors from GTA to help transition between the different movies and to kind of serve as a nice visual presentation of the movie," Monnerie said.

Touted as a red carpet event, the GSO is encouraging people to dress up and enjoy a night out on the town. A reception will be offered during intermission with champagne and wine, catered by Scott's on The Square to preferred-seating patrons.

"All of our shows this season are going to feature a visual component, with either a dancer or choral singer," Monnerie said. "It's going to be a new change-up for the Symphony."
