The Gainesville Jaycees will host the second annual Stocking Scurry, a 5K run/Walk, at 9 a.m - Saturday.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., is still open and accepted through the day of the event. Cost per person is $25.
All proceeds go toward the Gainesville Jaycees' Empty Stocking Fund, a tradition of providing Christmas gifts to Hall County's needy children since 1955.
The 5K competition offers multiple age groups and there will be awards for top male and female finishers in each group. All participants will receive a free T-shirt.
This event is a sanctioned Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Race Series event. Members earn points for participating in Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Races and placing in the top 20 of their age group in the race.
The Stocking Scurry coincides with the Jaycees' annual Mule Camp Market, to be held this weekend in downtown Gainesville.
"This (race) is the second annual, we hope to do better than last year," Samuel Latimer, event coordinator for the Jaycees, said. "So far we have about 40 people signed up and last year we had 88.
"We try to help people have fun while raising money."
