Incumbent Becky Richardson won the runoff Tuesday, Dec. 3, for Braselton Town Council’s District 1 seat.

She captured 62 percent of the vote, defeating Richard Mayberry. She had 98 votes to Mayberry’s 61.

"Today the people of Braselton have spoken -- and spoken decisively," Richardson said in a text message. "For all who took time out of their busy schedules to cast their vote, I thank them very much. I thank them for not only their confidence in me, but for simply doing what they feel in their heart is right for the Town of Braselton."

She and Mayberry, who served on the council 2005-15, were the top two finishers in the Nov. 5 election.

Richardson, who works at Liberty Mutual, will begin her second four-year term Jan. 1.
