Wheeler: Follow Hall County Extension office on Facebook

Everyone is on Facebook these days. It’s a great way to communicate to catch up with friends and stay connected with family that is far off. It is also a great way to advertise a product and reach new customers.

For those who do not know, the Hall County Extension office has a Facebook fan page. The fan page is updated regularly and provides you with gardening tips, facts about the environment and advertises meetings and events held by the Extension office or the Hall County Master Gardener volunteers. It is also a great way for you to contact us about problems you are seeing in your yard. You can post questions on the page or email us through Facebook.

You can find the fan page at www.facebook.com/hallcountyag.

I hope the fan page will reach a new audience who does not know us or able to follow us through our traditional media outlets. In case you do not know who we are, we are the outreach arm of the University of Georgia, College of Agriculture Cooperative Extension. We are also part of Hall County government.

Our mission is to provide research based and unbiased information to the citizens of Hall County through educational programs and technical services like soil and water sampling. We also help with solving problems with landscape pests and commercial farm crops.

Take the time to "like" us on Facebook and hopefully we can learn something new together about the environment, gardening and agriculture.

Michael Wheeler is county extension coordinator for the UGA Cooperative Extension in Hall County. You can contact him at 770-535-8293, www.hallcounty.org/extension. His column appears weekly and on gainesvilletimes.com/life.
