Sanders sought honor for one of his troops

The C.C. Sanders chapter of the Children of the Confederacy was named for Col. Christopher Columbus Sanders, who fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. But the chapter almost was named for somebody lesser known. In October 1902, the Children of the Confederacy had notified the colonel that it planned to name its chapter in his honor.
