The Flowery Branch softball team defeated Heritage 5-3, 5-4 in a best-of-three Region 8-AAAAA tournament series to earn its first state tournament berth in school history on Wednesday in Conyers. Kelly Kahlert notched six hits and scored four runs in the series for Flowery Branch. MacKenzie Harris and Kara Kight each earned wins in the pitching circle.
