Gainesville High senior Hunter Mallard wins Class 6A state title in pole vault

Gainesville Hunter Mallard picked up his second state title in pole vault by finishing with a height of 16 feet in the Class 6A state championship Thursday in Grisham Stadium in Carrollton. North Hall’s Mac Bennett was the runner-up in shot put, throwing 51-02.5 in the Class 3A state championship at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany. Also for the Trojans, Tommy Johnston was state runner-up in the 1600.
