Woman not injured after home invasion in Buford

Two Hispanic men in their 20s forced their way into a Buford residence and the homeowner into the pantry as they ransacked the house Friday afternoon, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at about 3 p.m. to the home in the 4800 block of Peachtree Drive, just south of Lanier Islands Parkway near Exit 8 on Interstate 985.

One of the men had a handgun. The middle-aged female victim was not injured, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks, spokesman for the office, said the victim didn’t speak English and investigators were having some difficulty gathering information through a translator.

Wilbanks said the woman likely was still inside when the suspects left, so the sheriff’s office does not have a vehicle description. The victim’s cellphone was taken, but the sheriff’s office was still working to determine what else may have been stolen.

“She was still in the process of going through the home and conducting an inventory to try to determine what other items, if any, were taken,’ Wilbanks said. “The drawers and the bedrooms and kitchens and things like that had been rifled through, so they went through the house pretty good.”
