A suspicious package briefly disrupted the first day of Mule Camp Market this afternoon.
Gainesville Police were called to investigate an unattended backpack left under a tree on the corner of Main and Spring streets.
The GBI cleared the area and determined the backpack was not a threat, it was simply left unattended, Cpl. Joe Britte said.
Britte praised the festival vendors for their cooperation and for staying calm.
"It worked out to be a real good collaboration at Mule Camp Market," he said. "With everything going on folks were just conducting business as usual."
