Hall official lobbies Congress to boost dollars for students nutrition needs

The increasing cost of preparing school meals prompted Hall County’s school nutrition director to lobby Congress this week for a robust bill that aims to ensure the solvency of meal programs for students. But Cheryl Jones came home unconvinced it will pass this year. New nutrition standards handed down from the U.S. Department of Agriculture have pushed an estimated $3 billion in additional costs onto local school districts across the country.
