Plans change: Sardis-Ledan intersection to stay open other than some nights during roundabout work

A day after announcing the intersection of Ledan and Sardis roads would close July 31 for construction of roundabout, Hall County changed course and said the intersection will stay open during roundabout construction aside from potential night work. “The contractor has assured us that if, at any time, a lane closure is required, it will only occur between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. as to not interfere with school traffic,” Hall County District 2 Commissioner Billy Powell said in a county press release sent after 5 p.m. Thursday. The county originally scheduled construction on the project to start at the time when school let out for summer and reopen ahead of the Aug. 7 start of school, but “right of way issues delayed the project,” according to the release.
