Mailman charged with driving high, having cocaine
Edward Gay

A mailman was arrested Thursday on charges he was high and had cocaine with him while delivering mail in Gainesville.

Hall County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Edward Dickson Gay of Flowery Branch at about 1 p.m. on Longview Drive in Gainesville.

He was stopped for failing to use turn signals, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said the drugs were found in a small metal container near the driver’s compartment.

Wilbanks said there are no further pending charges from the sheriff’s office, but he said the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General is investigating.

Gay was booked into the Hall County Jail Thursday, where he remains.
