Firefighter treated for heat exhaustion Monday released

The firefighter who suffered heat exhaustion Monday was treated and released, Gainesville Fire Division Chief Keith Smith said. Firefighters were battling a small blaze at an old Fieldale Farms chicken processing plant at the corner of Dorsey and Davis streets in Gainesville when the firefighter was stricken. The fire was quickly knocked down and there were no other injuries, fire officials said.
