A 19-year-old Murrayville armed robbery convict was caught this morning nearly two hours after he escaped from the Hall County Correctional Institute.

Datrin Fitzgerald Jackson "jumped over one of our older perimeter fences in the area of our loading dock," said Warden Avery Niles. "Once we discovered that, we put everything on lockdown."

At the time of the escape, "we had moved our details to the back gate and one of the officers got distracted."

The escape took place at about 8:05 a.m. Authorities found him at 9:50 a.m. in woods between Calvary Church Road and Ga. 60, some 500 to 600 yards from the institute at 1694 Barber Road.

"You can guarantee there’s an internal investigation on the way to see exactly what transpired, as well as if (there are) preventive measures that we can put in place," Niles said.
