Corps hopes to keep dock permit process going

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hopes to forge ahead this spring and summer with issuing dock permits, and not resort to moving employees assigned to that task to covering parks, as it had to do last year. “We want to get the (permit) lottery system complete, and we’re going to do everything in our power to get that done,” said Tim Rainey, the corps’ operations project manager at Lanier. “That means not using them as much for recreation patrols — at least that’s still the thought, at this point and time.
