On Aug. 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. gave what became one of the most iconic speeches in history.

Has his dream been achieved?

Starting Sunday, The Times will examine what life was like in that era, how far we’ve come and where we still need to work to improve race relations. Stories will span the history, emotions and lingering effects of both the tough fight for civil rights and the triumphant moments of the movement.

As part of the series, The Times and Brenau University will host a conversation about civil rights at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Brenau's Hosch Theater at the John S. Burd Center. We hope you will join us as we look back on this significant event in history and also toward a more inclusive future.
