A 39-year-old lifelong Hall County resident was found shot to death Saturday night at a Flowery Branch house.
Ricko Bledson was lying on the front porch of the house with a single gunshot wound to his chest near his shoulder when Flowery Branch Police found him Saturday night, Chief David Spillers said Sunday.
Bledson died later at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The incident began about 10 p.m. with a report about a suspicious person, Spillers said.
As officers were arriving at the home in the 5600 block of Chinook Court, off Jim Crow Road, “the call changed to the report of a shooting,” Spillers said.
“I have been working today with the GBI, canvassing the neighborhood for any further information concerning the homicide,” Flowery Branch Police Investigator Robin Kemp wrote in an email Sunday. “So, far, (there are) no good leads yet.”
Few other details were released, including whether authorities are seeking a suspect.
“The investigation into the murder of Mr. Bledson is still in the very early stages,” Spillers said in a press release. “Therefore, no further information will be released at this time.”
He added later by email: “Once we have something solid, we will release that information to the media and the public.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to help with the case, the chief said.
GBI spokesman Scott Dutton also didn’t have additional details.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Kemp at 770-967-6336.
