If you are a poet and you know it, the Northeast Georgia Writers group has just the thing to make your heart sing.

The group will hold The Georgia Poetry Society Road Show from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 1 at Peach State Bank, 325 Washington St., in Gainesville.

Admission is $25.

The road show will feature presentations from four poets: Tonette Long, Robert W. Kimsey, Robert S. King and Steven Shields.

Long is a retired English professor and part-time North Georgia College & State University instructor. She is a published author, with some of her poems appearing in "The Reach of Song" and "Stonepile Writers Anthology."

Kimsey is a retired technical writer and illustrator and a previous winner of the Lee Pennington Award. His poetry has appeared in "Pegasus the Southern Ocean Review" and "New Southerner." His new book, "Air Swimmer" was released last year.

King has published two full-length collections of his poetry - "The Hunted River" and "The Gravedigger's Roots." He is also the director of FutureCycle Press, a poetry and flash fiction poetry company.

Shields is a communications instructor at Gainesville State College and a former radio announcer. He is also the author of "Daimonion Sonata" and "Valentines for Many People."

The poets will read some of their work and share tips on how to compose poetry.

The Northeast Georgia group's purpose is to "foster good writing." It meets monthly, hosts competitions and publishes various anthologies.
