Riverstreet reunion helps area charities, musician

Local musicians will reunite for Riverstreet Again 2012, a benefit concert for Gateway Domestic Violence Center and the John Jarrard Foundation.
It may have taken nearly 20 years, but Riverstreet fans are finally getting the encore they’ve been waiting for. The band is reuniting this Saturday for the Riverstreet Again 2012 concert at the Brenau University Amphitheater, 810 Brenau Lane in Gainesville. The gates for the blanket and lawnchair-friendly concert will open at 5 p.m. If you happen to forget your picnic, refreshments will be on sale.

Some call it the “best fundraiser in town.” The fourth annual Dancing for a Cause will bring dinner, dancing and competition to the Chattahoochee Country Club on Aug. 26 as 10 local “celebrities” vie for the coveted Mirror Ball . The event, which begins with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show following at 8 p.m., is a fundraiser for three local charities: Gainesville-Hall County Alliance for Literacy, Center Point and Rape Response Inc.
