Humane Society melds animals, art in fundraiser

The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will host Art with Heart, its annual benefit art auction, from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Chattahoochee Country Club. This year marks the fifth year for the fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting HSNEGA’s mission and the rescued, homeless animals in its care. The event at 3000 Club Drive will feature fine art, folk art, pottery, woodworking, sculpture and other types of artwork donated by renowned national and regional artists such as Amanda Carder Lovett, Pat Burd, Lydia Ferguson, Janet Cornett and S.D. Meadows.

Some call it the “best fundraiser in town.” The fourth annual Dancing for a Cause will bring dinner, dancing and competition to the Chattahoochee Country Club on Aug. 26 as 10 local “celebrities” vie for the coveted Mirror Ball . The event, which begins with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show following at 8 p.m., is a fundraiser for three local charities: Gainesville-Hall County Alliance for Literacy, Center Point and Rape Response Inc.
