Composer Evan Christopher to perform jazz concert
Clarinetist plays for small, intimate audience at Smithgall Arts Center

Musician Evan Christopher will play his contemporary and early jazz in a concert at 8 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Smithgall Arts Center in Gainesville. The event is part of The Arts Council’s Evenings of Intimate Jazz series.
Marrying the past and present proves to be an easy task for clarinetist Evan Christopher. After completing his master’s degree in musicology from Tulane University, the musician has gone on to play everywhere from New Orleans to San Antonio and even Paris. For his work, he has been praised by the New York Times, The UK Observer and has been featured on Grammy award-winning musical recordings.

Some call it the “best fundraiser in town.” The fourth annual Dancing for a Cause will bring dinner, dancing and competition to the Chattahoochee Country Club on Aug. 26 as 10 local “celebrities” vie for the coveted Mirror Ball . The event, which begins with dinner at 7 p.m. and the show following at 8 p.m., is a fundraiser for three local charities: Gainesville-Hall County Alliance for Literacy, Center Point and Rape Response Inc.
