West Hall grad named MVP

LaGrange College softball player and West Hall High grad Kirsten Woodard was named the Great South Athletic Conference tournament Most Valuable Player on Monday.

Woodard went 4-0 with a 0.58 ERA in the tournament. She pitched back-to-back complete games against top-seeded Maryville College to lead the Lady Panthers to a third straight tournament championship and a bid in the NCAA Division-III national tournament.

The GSAC all-conference selection is 10-1 with a 2.28 ERA this season, and has allowed only five earned runs in her last 69 innings pitched.
