High school basketball: Gainesville girls take down Apalachee in Region 8-6A win

Sadie Roach scored a team-high 23 points for the Gainesville girls in a 66-52 win against Apalachee on Tuesday. Lauren Teasley also had a big game for the Lady Elephants (7-9, 2-1 Region 8-6A), adding 17 points. Trailing 28-26 at halftime, Gainesville led 45-36 after three quarters. 

Up next, Gainesville hosts Winder-Barrow at 7 p.m. Friday. 

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 63, EAST HALL 40: Marlie Townley poured in a game-high 18 points for the Lady Tigers (11-6, 5-1 Region 7-3A) on Tuesday. Maddie Anglin and Mariah Benson scored 10 points each. 

Dawson County was up 24-15 after the first period, then led 42-19 at halftime.

Up next, Dawson County visits Fannin County at 7 p.m. Friday in Blue Ridge. 

RIVERSIDE MILITARY BOYS 74, TOWNS COUNTY 59: Shad Dabney had a game-high 24 points for the Eagles (9-6, 3-0 Region 8-A) on Friday. Adriel Clark finished with 17 for Riverside Military, while Bryce Klaycynski chipped in 10. 

Up next, Riverside Military hosts Athens Christian at 7 p.m. Friday

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 54, TALLULAH FALLS 46: Eliza Snyder led the way for the Lady Lions with a 27-point, 14-rebound double-double, adding four steals for good measure. Joelle Snyder added 15 points. 

Lakeview Academy will take on Commerce at home on Friday at 6 p.m.

WALNUT GROVE BOYS 56, JOHNSON 37: Wade Pearce had a game-high 9 points for the Knights on Tuesday. Up next, Johnson hosts Cedar Shoals on Friday in Oakwood.

BUFORD GIRLS 67, CEDAR SHOALS 35: Tate Walters scored a team-high 9 points as the Lady Wolves (15-0, 3-0 Region 8-5A) had 14 players score on Tuesday in Athens. Up next, Buford visits Loganville at 7 p.m. Friday. 

LANIER CHRISTIAN GIRLS 56, YOUNG AMERICANS CHRISTIAN 24: Faith Wasden finished with a game-high 17 points for the Lightning on Tuesday. Madison Hughes scored 12 points for Lanier Christian, while Reece Montgomery chipped in 10 points. 

YOUNG AMERICANS CHRISTIAN BOYS 77, LANIER CHRISTIAN 43: Trevin Last scored 13 points for the Lightning, and Bo Souther chipped in 12.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 79, UNION COUNTY 44: Carl Cleveland led the Leopards with 17 points, 14 rebounds and five steals on Tuesday. Clay Gosnell and Pierce Martin each scored 12 points for Banks County, while Sawyer Pace had 10. 

Up next, Banks County visits Social Circle on Friday.

WHITE COUNTY BOYS 61, FLOWERY BRANCH 48: Judson Burney scored 16 for the Falcons, while Trevor Gurske and Trey Shaw added 7 each.
