Slumping G-Braves fall to Columbus 6-2

Columbus second baseman Cord Phelps went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, leading the Clippers to a 6-2 victory over the slumping Gwinnett Braves on Sunday afternoon at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. The G-Braves out-hit the Clippers 11-9, but managed just two runs. With the win, Columbus clinches the season series, five games to three.

Police charge Gwinnett Braves player with rape

ATLANTA — A player for the Gwinnett Braves has been accused of raping a woman while on a trip to Columbus, Ohio. WGCL-TV (http://bit.ly/1KpmXCh) reports Elmer Reyes has been charged with kidnapping and rape in connection with the weekend incident at a Columbus hotel. Reyes is an infielder for the Braves.
