Jefferson advances in Dizzy Dean tourney

The Jefferson 13-year old All-Stars defeated Cartersville 9-5 on Monday in the Dizzy Dean State Baseball Tournament.

Jefferson overcame a four-run deficit with an eight-run eighth inning, highlighted by Robert Hayes’ two-run triple. Cole Edwards had two hits and Satchel Turpin, Keenan Lord and Tyler Cole also had hits in the innings.Jace McColskey picked up the win for the All-Stars, allowing one run in three innings pitched. Chandler Thompson recorded the save.

Jefferson next faces the winner of Druid Hills and Cartersville in the title game. It needs only one win to claim it’s first title since 2002.
