Two Buford pitchers combined for a no-hitter against Johnson on Thursday evening as the Lady Wolves topped the Knights 16-0 in a region matchup.
Buford (17-1, 4-0 in Region 8-AAAA) finished off the game in three innings of action, thanks in part to the efforts of starting pitcher Emily Crocker. Crocker allowed no hits while striking out four batters before teammate Peyton Wolfe came in for the save in the final inning to strike out two and walk two.
Kennedy Kotula (six RBIs) went 3 for 3 and hit two 3-run home runs in the rout.
Samantha Thomas also went 3 for 3 with a 3-run home run and four RBIs. Jordan Deep and Sydney Stavro also went 3 for 3 and combined for two doubles and three RBIs.
Buford is off until next Tuesday, when it will host White County at 6 p.m.
JEFFERSON GOES 1-1 AGAINST OCONEE COUNTY, JACKSON COUNTY: The Jefferson volleyball team split two matches Thursday evening, winning against Jackson County 25-8, 25-20 after dropping a match to Oconee County 14-25, 29-27, 25-22.
Jefferson won the first set against Oconee County and nearly won the second before the match point was reversed by the officials. Oconee went on to win the second and third sets.
The Dragons used their serving to jump out on Jackson County early to win the first set. With the score tied at 20 in the second set, Jefferson was able to pull away for the victory.
Jefferson is now 16-9 and 5-2 in Region 8-AAA.
Jefferson will take on Morgan County on the road in Madison next Thursday.
NORTH HALL ROUTS 2 OPPONENTS: Lily Paschall used a 13-point service run to help the North Hall Trojans to wins over Putnam County (25-4, 25-3) and Rabun County (25-9, 25-5) on Thursday evening.
Paschall also had 27 assists and 15 aces, while Sydney Cleveland added 15 kills and four aces in the two wins. Julie Daniels had five aces, six kills, two blocks and an assist for North Hall (15-6).
North Hall plays in the Georgia Challenge this weekend.
CHESTATEE DEFEATS TWO STRAIGHT: The Chestatee Lady War Eagles defeated Gilmer and Ringgold Thursday evening by scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-20, 25-15. Grace Brown tallied 12 kills, nine aces and 16 digs, while Tyler Bennett had 11 kills and 11 assists.
Chestatee hosts Buford next Tuesday.
