Jefferson edges by Commerce, 4-3

In his only at bat of the night, Andy Nicolaus drove in two runs in the seventh inning to lead the Jefferson baseball team to a 4-3 win over county rival Commerce on Saturday in Commerce. Micah Carpenter pitched a scoreless inning for Jefferson (15-2, 7-0 Region 8-AA) to earn the win and Drew Carson finished 2 for 4 with a double and a run Commerce’s Robert Hayes pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts in the loss, and Daniel Streetman finished 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Tigers. Jefferson will visit Washington-Wilkes on Friday in Washington for a Region 8-AA doubleheader.
