Katie Gay recorded eight digs, four kills and four aces to power Lakeview Academy to a pair of volleyball wins against Chestatee (25-16, 27-25) and Winder-Barrow (25-16, 25-22) on Thursday in Gainesville.
Katie White added 11 digs and six kills for the Lady Lions, and Katie Montgomery had seven blocks. Delaney Jarrett contributed eight assists, and Bailey Towles had seven assists. Rachel Unger notched five kills.
For Chestatee, Grace Brown tallied 11 digs, five kills and two blocks in losses to Lakeview and Winder-Barrow (23-25, 25-18, 25-22), and Tyler Bennett recorded 13 kills, nine digs and three aces.
Lakeview Academy plays host to Providence Christian and East Jackson on Tuesday.
GAINESVILLE SWEEPS PAIR: Savannah Roys tallied 37 assists, seven aces and five service points to lead Gainesville (5-3) in wins against Habersham Central (25-20) and Lumpkin County (25-23, 25-14) on Thursday.
Bethany Whitenton added 13 kills and five service points for the Lady Red Elephants, and Tanai Watson notched five kills, three service points and two aces. Sydney King had eight digs and three aces.
Gainesville plays host to Hart County and North Hall on Tuesday.
WHITE COUNTY WINS FIRST MATCH: The Lady Warriors defeated Johnson 28-26, 25-11, marking the first victory for the first-year program.
White County fell to East Hall 25-23, 25-16 in the second match.
JEFFERSON SPLITS ON THE ROAD: Paige Watson recorded 15 aces, seven digs and a kill to lead the Lady Dragons in a win against East Jackson (25-7, 25-12) and a loss to Oconee County (23-25, 25-22, 25-23) on Thursday in Watkinsville.
Grace Williamson added nine digs, nine kills and three aces for Jefferson (7-6, 1-1 Region 8-AAA), and Bre Arbanas had six blocks, five aces, three kills and two digs. Lindsey Nilsen added eight blocks, five kills and four digs.
BANKS COUNTY 7, EAST HALL 3: Mallory Parson went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored and struck out six to earn the win for Banks County on Thursday in Gainesville.
Kaitlyn Stewart added an RBI and a run scored with her pair of singles for the Lady Leopards (8-3, 3-1 Region 7-AAA).
Banks County visits Dawson County on Aug. 28 in Dawsonville.
GAINESVILLE 2, FLOWERY BRANCH 1: Kayla Street struck out six for the Lady Red Elephants and went 3 for 4 at the plate on Thursday.
Madison Oliver was 4 for 4 for Gainesville in the first region game of the season, and Abby Smallwood and Angel Goss each added two hits.
For Flowery Branch, Chloe Zoller finished 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored, and Bailey Sims was 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored.
The Lady Red Elephants (7-2, 1-0 Region 8-AAAAA) will face Johnson and Lakeview Academy on Saturday in Gainesville, while Flowery Branch takes on Salem on Tuesday.
