Gainesville High freshman pitcher Rachel Funk threw a complete game and only allowed one hit in a 13-1 win against Johnson on Tuesday in Oakwood. In a four-inning outing, she went without allowing any walks.

Natalie Allen led the Lady Red Elephants (2-0) at the plate with three hits, two runs scored and five RBIs. Katie Woods and Sarah Hughs each had two hits for Gainesville.

Gainesville plays host to Rabun County at 5 p.m. Friday in the Lanier Point Invitational.

FLOWERY BRANCH 2, NORTH HALL 0: Callie Orr threw a one-hit shutout with four strikeouts Tuesday night as Flowery Branch won at North Hall.

Orr took a no-hitter into the bottom of the seventh inning, where she managed to get one out before giving up the only North Hall hit of the night.

Kendall Fowler and Tanya Evans both went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Flowery Branch (1-0, 0-0 Region 8A-AAAA).

The Lady Falcons will play host to East Hall at 5:55 p.m. Monday.
