Senior Ashley Hagans scored 26 points and reached 1,000 points in her two-year career at Brenau on Monday night to lead the Tigers to a 80-68 win over Reinhardt.

Hagans got plenty of help as senior Vicky Wilson broke out of a shooting slump, hitting four 3s and finishing with 17 points and seven rebounds. Paige Cooper recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds and Meg Henson had 12 points.

Brenau (13-6) raced out to a 30-14 lead only to see Reinhardt (10-11) storm back, pulling to within two points before Hagans hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it 35-28 at the half.

The Eagles weren’t done though, and actually took the lead briefly at 57-53. The game stayed close until the last three minutes when the Tigers were able to convert some key free throws to put the game away.

Reinhardt was led by Kinsey Galyon with 15 points, while Jordan Marsh and Jemere McCurty added 10 each.

The Tigers made 10 of their 27 3-point attempts and went 18-for-21 from the free throw line.  Brenau was also able to force 26 turnovers with their pressure defense.

Brenau will travel to Montgomery, Ala., on Thursday for an important Southern States Athletic Conference matchup with Auburn-Montgomery.
