Gainesville High senior Ryan Hogan and fellow Red Elephant Sam Patterson each carded a first-day 73 and are one stroke off the lead in the boys’ overall division after the first day Monday of the Rudolph Junior Classic at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. In the 14-15 group, Patterson has a four-shot lead over Flowery Branch’s Ryan Davidson heading in the final round on Tuesday.

Leading is Atlanta’s Wesley Heston, who finished even par through the first 18 holes. 

In the 10-13 boys group, Alex Hughes of Dawsonville is in first a first-round 77, leading by five shots over Colin Edwards and Wiley Hickerson. 

The girls’ leader is Calhoun’s Kate Kauffman (85), followed by Alivia Davis (Westminster, S.C.) at 88.

Regional events
