Local golf: Luna's group plays Chestatee

The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played at Chestatee Golf Course in Dawsonville this week. First place went to the team of Randy Gordy, Richard Strickland, Tommy Lowery, and Chad Pierce. Royce Deaton, Jerry Johns, Stan Davidson Jr, and Jim Cornett came in second place, and Gene Weschler, Ken Chahoy, Tom Sexton, and Doug Van finished in third place. Closest to the pin winners were Bud Black (No. 3), Deaton (No. 7), Larry Miller (No. 11), Gordy (No. 15), and Sexton (No. 17).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches this week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. On Monday, Dave Jetter finished in first place, Steve Knowles came in second, and Bob Kidd was third.

Jetter, Jim Simpson, Bill Chambers, and Terrence Dale tied for first place on Wednesday, followed by Dwight Miller in second place, and Jerry Shell in third place. On Friday, Al Crego took first place, Chambers finished in second place, and Knowles came in third.

Dogfight: The teams of Lou Vega, Bob Arendt, and Jim Arthurs, and Terry Clegg, Roger Stapp, and Eric Autry tied for first place at 21-under par at the Wednesday Dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Cleve Sexton, Terry McFarland, and Darrel Pinner came in third at 17-under par. Arendt finished in first place individually with a score of 63. McFarland, Pinner, Vega, Stapp, Autry, and Vince Jonte’ all tied for second with scores of 67. Tommy Calhoun and Ken Dooley tied for 7th with scores of 68.

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a flighted par 3/par 5 count event on Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

In the first flight, Ann Hollobaugh took low gross, and Beulah Land took low net. In the second flight, Norma Remmlinger took low gross, while Nora Gleason and Nancy Negley tied for low net.

Closest to the pin winners were Hollobaugh and Sandy Adams (No. 3) and Land (No. 17).
