North Georgia softball ended its seven-game win streak with a 5-4 loss to Georgia College in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday in Milledgeville.
The Lady Saints received runs early from Taylor Merritt and Katherine Martin and took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth when Katie Garrett stole home but couldn’t hold on for the win.
Melissa Dickie (7-3) took the loss for North Georgia with a pair of strikeouts.
The Lady Saints (26-7, 6-2 PBC) visit Francis Marion University on Saturday in Florence, S.C.
NORTH GEORGIA 4, GEORGIA COLLEGE 0: Courtney Poole (16-4) recorded the shutout for North Georgia, recording eight strikeouts while giving up just two hits and one walk in game two on Thursday in Milledgeville.
Martin broke through first for North Georgia with a double behind the shortstop that scored McMillan and gave the Lady Saints a 1-0 lead in the sixth before McMillan hit a three-run home run to center field to secure the win.
KING COLLEGE (Tenn.) 6, YOUNG HARRIS 4: Young Harris took a 3-2 lead into the top of the seventh in game one on Thursday in Young Harris.
Sydnee Weaver led the way for the Mountain Lions with three hits and two RBIs while Callie Holloway had two hits and drove in a run.
Young Harris is now 22-14 on the year.
KING COLLEGE (Tenn.) 9, YOUNG HARRIS 3: Young Harris took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first in game two on a RBI single by Stacia Williams, who went 3 for 4 with two RBIs on Thursday in Young Harris.
Dominique Sibley and Williams added RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh for the Mountain Lions.
Darby Stanford (11-4) took the loss for Young Harris.
