Chris Dennis came through for North Hall with a last-chance field goal to lift his team to victory in a 38-35 win against Monroe Area on Friday in Gainesville.

Dennis made the 21-yard attempt with seven seconds to play to give the Trojans their first win of the season.

North Hall fell behind early but closed the gap with a first-quarter score from Drew Atha to make it 14-7. Atha tied the game with a 32-yard scoring pass to Mac Bennett in the second quarter, but Monroe Area came back and held the lead at halftime.

Both teams added 14 points in the third quarter, with a 4-yard run from Atha and a 32-yard run from Darrien Ingram for North Hall.

However, North Hall’s defense was the difference maker at the end of the game, holding Monroe Area scoreless in the fourth. The stand allowed Kyle Bacus to tie the game on a 15-yard touchdown run with just over eight minutes left. North Hall was able to run the clock down, and Dennis put the Trojans on top as time ran out.

North Hall (1-7, 1-4 Region 8-AAAA) visits Chestatee on Friday.
