Commerce falls to Athens Christian, slides to 0-2 in region

Quay Little had 157 yards on 11 carries and scored both touchdowns for Commerce, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers fell 19-14 to Athens Christian on Friday. Little scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and a 65-yard run before halftime on Friday in Commerce.The Tigers led 14-3 at the half but could not keep up the scoring. Commerce (4-2, 0-2 Region 8-A) travels to Prince Avenue Christian next week in Bogart.

Nicholas Garrett, born and raised near the California coastline, required only one visit to Gainesville to fall in love with Riverside Military. Much to his delight, the feeling was mutual. Riverside Military on Tuesday announced Garrett’s hiring as its new football coach, bringing the former college coordinator across the country to revive a program that has won three games over the past two seasons.
