On July 1, The Times had a piece on Georgia House Bill 87. On July 3, there was another article declaring HB 87 as un-Christian.
It is unfortunate that these two pieces totally miss the point. They focus on immigration and not on the "illegal" focus of law.
Any citizen of the U.S., with the exception of native American Indians, is an immigrant. House Bill 87 is not anti-immigration, but anti-illegal immigration. Any citizen of the U.S., whether natural born or naturalized, should be outraged by illegal immigration and the desire that all residents be law abiding.
As for the un-Christian impact of House Bill 87, there is nothing in the Christian doctrine that encourages or condones lawlessness. In fact, scripture calls all believers to be "obedient" to the authority set over them.
The restaurant owner quoted in the first article reveals his true intent when he states that his support of the protest has increased his business.
Let us make changes to our immigration laws which will allow work visas that are compassionate in their effect, but let's stop the flood of criminals across our border.
