A woman was killed in a fire Thursday evening off Browns Bridge Road, authorities said. Hall County Fire Marshal Capt. Scott Cagle said the woman, in her 40s, was found in a basement apartment of an 1,100-square-foot home on Lyman Drive and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. The call came in about 5:38 p.m. and Gainesville firefighters responded first, entering the home, knocking down the fire and finding the victim inside, Cagle said.
