Former Army Capt. Larry Little, who served during the Vietnam War, was shot down while piloting a helicopter 50 years ago. Since his medical retirement, Little has been meeting with other members of his troop, D-Troop 3/5th Cavalry, every Memorial Day. - photo by David Barnes
Each year, Larry Little and his fellow veterans of the Vietnam War get together to make sure they’re able to stay in touch. The gatherings didn’t start until the 1980s, but ever since, Little said it seems like more people show up. They usually gather in a different place each year. This year, it will be Atlanta. The one thing that remains the same is a table that’s been neatly set, sitting off to the side.
