The University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus held a mock disaster event Wednesday to help students, faculty and staff gain practical experience in how to respond to emergency situations.

The event put on by UNG’s College of Health Sciences and Professions simulated the aftermath of a tornado.

Nearly 200 first-year nursing, physical therapy and clinical mental health counseling students acted as victims while another 226 students beyond their first year of study split into rescue teams, working to locate and treat the “patients.”
