The University of North Georgia has received the second largest gift in its history, property worth an estimated $5.2 million

The property will be used to establish a fund supporting the Corps of Cadets, and was donated by the estate of Army Col. Lewis “Jack” Peevy, who died in January. UNG is a federally designated senior military college.

Peevy, who graduated from UNG and worked in the military for 30 years, made another sizable donation to the college in 2012, when he committed $2.1 million to establish a Corps of Cadets scholarship in his name.

The UNG foundation will liquidate the property to create the Corps of Cadets fund, as Peevy requested, according to Andrew Leavitt, CEO of the foundation.
