It's official: Sunday alcohol sales can begin this Sunday in Flowery Branch.

City Clerk Marja Burney said Wednesday she has verified that the Georgia Secretary of State's Office has received the city's Nov. 8 election returns.

The city's voters approved by a 69 percent margin to allow Sunday package sales at convenience and grocery stores.
Sunday sales can take place 12:30-11:30 p.m.

Gainesville likely will begin Sunday sales Dec. 11. The City Council voted Nov. 10 to set that date and is expected to give final OK on Dec. 6.

Oakwood City Council will consider an ordinance setting the effective date for Sunday sales at its Dec. 12 meeting.
