Severe weather threat mostly over

The worst of the stormy weather has passed, but more rain and possibly high winds could continue into the afternoon.

“We’re still going to have to keep an eye on things,” said meteorologist Matt Sena with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City. “We’re not completely out of the woods, but the main threat has passed.”

The system passing through Georgia extends to eastern Alabama, where a few thunderstorms are dumping rain, he said.

Overnight storms moving from the west across Georgia caused few problems in the Hall County area.

Some accidents occurred across the area and Georgia Power and Jackson Electric Membership Corp. are reporting that some 600 people are without power in Hall County.
